Hand-Crafted Furniture
Sam Sprouse creates high end, eco-friendly, custom furniture and specializes in antique restoration.
Everything Sam makes is truly hand made using techniques that have been passed down for centuries. He hand cuts all of his joinery and rarely use any metal fasteners. Sam’s furniture is built to last for generations. To create timeless furniture using old world techniques, while incorporating modern design and aesthetics is Sam’s main focus.
Sam only uses solid wood construction and never uses any ply or manufactured lumber. He uses local wood whenever possible and only harvests trees that have fallen naturally. Sam attentively selects wood to ensure that only the most beautiful grain patterns and colors are present.
Sam also has extensive experience in veneer work and marquetry. While studying at the Thomas Chippendale School of Furniture in Gifford, Scotland, Sam gained valuable knowledge about antique restoration practices and theory.
Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Sam strives to create furniture that showcases the essence and beauty of the wood while meeting the client’s specifications. Sam collaborates with the client in every aspect of the construction process: design, style, materials, and production in order to satisfy every request and challenge.
